About C2C

Led by the South East England Development Agency, the C2C (Connect to Compete) project brings together three regional partners and five commercial ports from three countries:

C2C is a four year initiative (2008-2011) with an overall budget of €12.7 million, of which is €4.8 million is from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and is co-funded by the European INTERREG IVA 2 Seas Programme which provides support to projects seeking to promote cross-border cooperation

The main aim of the C2C project is to enhance the quality of a few strategic corridors and shipping routes by optimising the existing infrastructure and encouraging more sustainable freight transport and inter-modality.

To further develop economic competitiveness and facilitate trade, C2C responds to the demand of tackling fragmentations in the cross-border logistic supply chains by better connecting ports to each other, and to the hinterland they serve.

C2C est un partenariat de quatre ans (2008 - 2011) avec un budget global de €12.7 millions, dont €4.8 millions proviennent du Fonds Européen de Développement Régional (FEDER). Il est cofinancé par le programme européen Interreg IVA des 2 mers qui soutient des projets cherchant à encourager la coopération transfrontalière.

Le but principal du projet C2C est d'améliorer la qualité d'un certain nombre de corridors stratégiques et de routes maritimes en optimisant l'infrastructure existante et en encourageant des transports de fret plus durables ainsi que l'intermodalité.

Afin de développer davantage la compétitivité et faciliter le commerce et  face au morcellement des plate-formes logistiques de transport, C2C entend mieux relier les ports entre eux et renforcer les connections entre ces ports à leur hinterland.

Het C2C project “connect to compete - verbinden om te concurreren” brengt onder leiding van het Ontwikkelingsagentschap van Zuidoost-Engeland drie regionale partners en vijf commerciële havens van drie verschillende landen samen.

C2C is een vier jaar durend initiatief (2008 - 2011) met een budget van 12,7 miljoen euro. Daarvan is 4,8 miljoen euro afkomstig van het Europees Fonds voor Regionale Ontwikkeling (het EFRO). Het C2C project wordt mede gefinancierd door het Europese Overzeese INTERREG IVA 2 Zeeën Programma. Dit programma verleent steun aan projecten die grensoverschrijdende samenwerking bevorderen.


De hoofddoelstelling van het C2C project is de kwaliteit van enkele strategische corridors en scheepsroutes te verbeteren. Deze doelstelling wil men bereiken door de bestaande infrastructuur te optimaliseren, duurzaam vrachtvervoer aan te moedigen en intermodaliteit te promoten.


C2C wil de economische competitiviteit stimuleren en de handel en de logistieke keten vereenvoudigen door havens (en het hinterland dat ze bedienen) beter met elkaar te linken.
